Tauranga City Council (TCC) collects personal information from you, or about you, for the purposes of recruitment, your employment or engagement at TCC, including your name, address, contact details, curriculum vitae (CV), date of birth, next of kin, photo, driver’s license, remuneration/hourly rate, bank account and tax details, medical information, performance and development info. The personal information that TCC collects from you, or a third party, will differ depending on whether you’re a prospective employee, an employee or a contractor (see more detailed information in the full Privacy Statement). If you’re a prospective employee, the information is required to assess your application and suitability for the role, and to carry out reference and background checks. If you’re an employee, the information is required for TCC to meet our obligations to you as your employer, our legal obligations regarding health and safety and employment practice, and to support your career and development. If you are a prospective or current contractor, the information is required as part of the procurement process, to determine suitability, for reference and background checks and to meet contractual obligations. If you do not provide the information, we may be unable to process your application, or continue the procurement, or employ or appoint you. Your information will only be shared to the extent necessary for the purposes described and will include authorised TCC personnel. We may also have an obligation to share your information with third parties, including Inland Revenue or NZ Police. We may also need to disclose your information to a contractor where it is necessary for the provision of their services to us. You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
