No matter which role you do at Tauranga City Council – and there’s over 760 of them – they’re all united in a common purpose.

Te tai whanake - we’re here to make Tauranga better.

Our team is made up of a diverse range of people, bringing a rich mix of cultures, skills, and lived experiences to the work we do for our city.

Our values shape how we work with each other and with the community.

Whāia te tika and service

We do the right thing for our community and each other

What are we striving for?

Our Direction is Tauranga City Council’s strategic framework. It outlines what we are all working towards for our city and community.

Our Direction is visually represented by the Kupenga (fishing net) – a collaborative tool made up of many strands working together to achieve a shared goal of providing for and sustaining our people and environment, now and in the future.

It takes all the individual strands of a kupenga being connected and bound together to create something truly strong and useful for the community.

Council’s five community outcomes (what we are trying to achieve for our communities) and three approaches (how we will do everything) are the eight individual strands that are woven together to form the Kupenga.

Our three approaches

How we will do everything – forming the horizontal strands of our framework, as shown in Te Kupenga diagram above.
