Technology underpins almost everything Tauranga City Council delivers. From frontline services and community facilities to critical business systems and digital experiences, our networks and security platforms play a vital role in supporting a growing city.

We're looking for an experienced Digital Networks and Security Operations Manager to lead the teams responsible for keeping this environment secure, resilient and performing at its best. This is an opportunity to combine strategic leadership with operational excellence, helping shape the future direction of Council's technology landscape while leading a highly capable team of network and security specialists.

You'll work across a diverse and evolving technology environment, influencing investment decisions, driving continuous improvement and ensuring Council has the secure, scalable digital foundations needed to support future growth. Whether you're leading major initiatives, managing operational risk or developing team capability, you'll have a direct impact on the organisation and the community it serves.

  • Lead the teams responsible for the operation, security and continuous improvement of Council's network and cyber security environments.
  • Influence technology strategy, architecture and investment decisions that support long-term organisational success.
  • Build a culture of innovation, resilience and operational excellence across a high-performing technical function.

You'll be a confident leader who enjoys developing people, solving complex challenges and creating environments where teams can perform at their best. You understand how to balance operational demands with strategic priorities and can build trust with technical specialists, business stakeholders and senior leaders alike.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Significant experience leading network, infrastructure, cyber security or technology operations teams within a complex environment.
  • Strong leadership capability, with a track record of building engaged, high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing technology risk, resilience, vendors and operational service delivery.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A strategic mindset combined with a practical, delivery-focused approach.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to balance security, innovation, customer needs and organisational priorities.
  • Most importantly, you'll be motivated by building modern, secure and resilient technology services that enable great outcomes for our organisation and community.
