Te Tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Administration Lead to join our Spaces and Places team. This team is responsible for the planning, delivery and asset management that shapes Tauranga’s parks, reserves, sports facilities, and public spaces – creating places for our community to enjoy. Your role is to make sure the whole of the Spaces and Places team has the strong administration and coordination support they need to keep delivering for our community.

As Administration Lead, you’ll also manage and develop two Team Coordinators, ensuring they are supported and cross-skilled to provide seamless service across the team.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and support the Spaces and Places administration team, including two Team Coordinators.
  • Manage diaries, visitors, calls, and correspondence for the Head of Spaces and Places and the lead team.
  • Coordinate events, activities and processes to keep things running smoothly.
  • Ensure financial processes are accurate and on time.
  • Review and improve systems and processes for efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships across the team and with stakeholders.

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience supporting senior leaders with administration and coordination.
  • Strong leadership skills – able to coach and develop your team.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in a complex, confidential environment.

This is a great opportunity to lead a team that delivers high-quality support and customer service, helping us create spaces and places that make a difference for our city. If you’re organised, proactive, and passionate about making things work better, we’d love to hear from you.
