To support Tauranga’s growth and maintain safe, high-quality development, we’re growing our Building Services team. If you’re an experienced Building Control Officer – Processing, with a National Competency Assessment System (NCAS) competency in Residential or Commercial work and are looking for a new opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Building Control Officer – Processing, you’ll assess and certify building consent applications to ensure they meet the requirements of the Building Act 2004. You’ll review plans and documentation, provide clear technical advice to customers, and ensure decisions are made accurately and on time.

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in a building-related discipline, as required by Regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006
  • A current Residential and/or Commercial NCAS competency
  • Proven experience in building consent processing or a related role
  • Strong working knowledge of the Building Act 2004, Building Regulations 2006, and the Building Code
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally to a range of customers
  • A detail-focused, methodical approach to decision-making
