Te Tūranga | About the role

As a Corporate Planner, you'll join our tight-knit and efficient Corporate Planning team. You'll collaborate closely with our Finance team to create top-notch corporate planning documents that meet all legislative requirements and best practices.

 

Your day-to-day will involve planning, coordinating, and delivering key corporate planning and monitoring processes. This includes long-term plans, annual plans, annual reports, quarterly monitoring reports, and the pre-election report.

 

You'll also play a crucial role in our large submission management processes and participate in de-brief and learning processes to ensure we continuously improve.

 

In addition, you’ll prepare key monitoring and reporting processes, provide quarterly monitoring reports to the Council, and report to the Executive Leadership Team. Building and maintaining strong internal partnerships will be essential to ensure effective and efficient delivery of our corporate planning, monitoring, and reporting processes.

 

Ultimately, your role will ensure that our planning, performance monitoring and reporting are top-notch, and that our internal and external relationships are trusted, sustainable, and effective.

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring;

  • This is a subject matter expert role requiring experience (3+ years) in local government corporate planning or another related field (i.e. policy or strategic planning).
  • Demonstrated expertise and working knowledge of the Local Government Act (2002), and the associated regulatory corporate planning procedures and/or experience operating in a role with rigorous legislative guidelines and timeframes to adhere to.
  • A relevant university degree.
  • Proven and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and abilities – clarity, fluency, balance, impact, and conciseness.
  • High level of interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Decision-making skills and sound professional judgement.
  • Well organised, and an ability to plan and prioritise important activities/tasks and meet timeframes.
  • Ability to work independently on own projects, as well as work collaboratively on large projects as part of a team.
