Te Tūranga | About the role

Technology underpins almost every service we deliver to our community. As our Digital Platforms and Applications Manager, you'll lead the team responsible for supporting, maintaining and continuously improving Tauranga City Council's enterprise applications and digital platforms, ensuring the systems our people rely on every day remain secure, reliable and fit for the future.

 

This is a leadership opportunity where you'll combine people leadership, technical expertise and customer focus to drive operational excellence across a complex technology environment. Leading our Level 2 and Level 3 Applications Support function, you'll work across SAP and other business-critical platforms, ensuring high-quality service delivery and reliable day-to-day support for Council's digital ecosystem.

 

You will play a key role in strengthening platform stability, managing application lifecycles, reducing operational risk and ensuring our digital services continue to meet the needs of a fast-growing city. Working closely with Service Desk teams, project and delivery teams, enterprise architecture, vendors and stakeholders across the organisation, you'll help ensure technology investment delivers lasting value for our community.

 

In this role, you'll:

  • lead the Digital Platforms and Applications team, building capability and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • oversee Level 2 and Level 3 support services, ensuring applications meet service levels and customer expectations
  • drive operational stability, service quality and continuous improvement across business-critical platforms
  • provide technical and people leadership across SAP and other enterprise applications
  • manage platform lifecycle planning, upgrades, patching and technical debt
  • ensure platforms remain secure, resilient, supportable and aligned with enterprise architecture standards
  • work closely with delivery teams to ensure successful operational handover of new and enhanced digital services
  • build strong relationships with business stakeholders, vendors and support partners to improve service outcomes
  • provide insights and reporting on platform performance, risks and opportunities
  • ensure Council continues to maximise value from its investment in enterprise technology.

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

You'll be a collaborative technology leader who can balance operational excellence with long-term thinking. You'll bring strong technical credibility, a customer-focused mindset and the ability to build high-performing teams while developing trusted relationships across the organisation.

 

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • a business or information technology qualification, or equivalent experience
  • experience leading technology support, customer service or service management functions
  • extensive experience supporting and implementing SAP platforms and associated enterprise applications
  • strong knowledge of service management frameworks and best practice support processes
  • ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent experience
  • experience supporting Microsoft technologies and enterprise application environments
  • strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills
  • experience working within Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery environments
  • the ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities and drive continuous improvement outcomes.

 

Experience with Azure DevOps, enterprise integrations or large-scale digital platforms will be advantageous.
