Te Tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for an experienced digital platforms leader to take technical ownership of key platforms across Tauranga City Council, ensuring they are secure, scalable, well-integrated and delivering reliable functionality for the organisation.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you’ll lead a team of technical and application support specialists, providing leadership across platform design, operations, governance and continuous improvement. With a strong focus on SAP/ERP platforms and enterprise integration, you’ll work closely with Digital Services leaders, project teams, vendors and business stakeholders to support stable, future-focused technology services.

 

Day to day, this may include:

  • leading the roadmap and lifecycle planning for SAP/ERP and other digital platforms
  • overseeing platform operations, including monitoring, incident, problem and change management
  • driving continuous improvement across platform performance, support models and service delivery
  • providing technical leadership across SAP, integration layers, cloud platforms and adjacent systems
  • supporting modernisation through cloud adoption, automation, API enablement and integration improvements
  • leading, mentoring and developing a team of technical and application support specialists
  • partnering with project and delivery teams to support high-quality solution design and implementation
  • ensuring strong governance, risk management, documentation and audit readiness across platforms
  • building trusted relationships with stakeholders and translating business needs into practical technology solutions.

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

We’re looking for someone who brings a strong mix of technical depth, leadership capability and customer focus. You’ll be comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level, and you’ll know how to bring structure, clarity and continuous improvement to complex platform environments.

You’ll bring:

  • a degree-level qualification in Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • significant experience providing ERP/SAP technical and functional support
  • strong knowledge of SAP environments, such as S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, integration layers and Basis
  • experience with enterprise integration, including APIs, middleware and cloud platforms
  • proven experience leading technical teams and working with managed service providers
  • experience supporting large-scale digital or ERP transformation programmes
  • an understanding of service delivery, platform governance, risk, security and compliance requirements
  • experience working across agile, waterfall or hybrid delivery environments
  • strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical teams.

Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps would be beneficial.
