Te Tūranga | About the role
Are you ready to kick-start your career in planning? As a Graduate Environmental Planner, you’ll join a supportive team of experienced planners who will mentor and guide you as you grow your skills and confidence.
At Tauranga City Council, you’ll be involved in a wide range of projects and resource consent applications that help shape our city. You’ll work closely with teams across Council and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. We value objectivity and will support you to make fair, well-informed decisions.
You’ll be supported to develop and deliver key parts of the role, including:
- Processing a variety of resource consent applications, including complex ones
- Making robust, legally sound recommendations
- Providing planning advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Writing clear, accurate planning reports
- Using negotiation, facilitation, coordination, and conflict resolution skills
- Contributing to business improvement initiatives

- A university degree in Resource Management Planning or a related field
- A strong work ethic and motivation to learn and grow
