Te Tūranga | About the role
The Spaces and Places team is responsible for the planning, delivery and ongoing management of parks, open spaces, community facilities and Council property. We create and care for spaces and places that our communities love and where our environment can thrive.
As part of the Spaces and Places Design team, you’ll join a passionate and professional group that designs all the fun spaces in Tauranga City! As a Graduate Landscape Architect, you’ll support a wide variety of projects – from walkways, playgrounds and parks to streetscapes and public spaces. You’ll be involved in everything from concept design to construction documentation, and you’ll also help bring ideas to life through high-quality illustrations and visualisations.
This is a design-focused role, perfect for someone who’s confident with drawing, modelling and graphic design tools, keen to grow their skills alongside seasoned professionals and gain valuable exposure to real projects.
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or a similar field.
- Strong drawing and graphic design skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or Vectorworks, and 3D modelling tools like SketchUp.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain ideas simply.
- Attention to detail and a good sense of the bigger picture.
- A positive, self-motivated attitude and a willingness to contribute to team culture.
