Te Tūranga | About the role

Tauranga is growing rapidly, and some exciting major infrastructure projects are scheduled to begin over the next few years that will contribute to providing more homes for people in our city. 

As Infrastructure Engagement Coordinator you will play an important role in making sure we take our community on the journey with us.  

You will be responsible for providing administrative and coordination support to the Infrastructure Engagement Team that sits within our Community Relations Team.  You’ll be a whiz at keeping things organised and running smoothly. Scheduling, organising and assisting with community and stakeholder engagement events and activities will be second nature to you and, where required, you’ll also be able to turn your hand to drafting media advisories and responses, adverts (print and radio), and social media and website content to support the wider Infrastructure Engagement Team. 

Part of our Community Relations Team, with a focus on transport and waters projects, you’ll play a key role in keeping the infrastructure engagement wheels turning by developing, implementing and maintaining communication processes and procedures, building and maintaining strong community relationships, and supporting the Infrastructure Engagement Team to put the community at the heart of everything they do. 

This role is fixed term until June 30th 2026.

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring: 

  • A Certificate or Diploma in communications, journalism, or public relations 
  • IAP2 training preferable but not essential 
  • The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders 
  • Strong administrative / coordination skills, including the ability to prioritise
