As an ITS Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of transformative projects in the Tauranga Transport Operations Centre team. Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive meaningful outcomes, optimize operations and ensure the city’s transport function is a model of efficiency and safety. Trial new and emerging technologies in the ITS space, providing innovative solutions to create a safer and more resilient network.

 

Te Tūranga | About the role

Take the reins in overseeing the delivery of ITS projects for the Tauranga Transport Operations Centre. Plan and develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility. Work cooperatively with Contractors to install, operate, maintain and renew transport related electronic assets across the city including CCTV cameras, traffic signals, variable message signage, video data networks and lighting. Manage ITS projects in partnership with internal and external stakeholders and liaise with Asset Managers to ensure projects are programmed and delivered within allocated budgets and time frames. Maintain accurate records for all ITS assets across the transport network for both Local roads and State Highways.

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • A relevant qualification in an ITS related field, Electrical or technical discipline.
  • Proven success in delivery of electrical/technical projects.
  • Demonstrated success in managing contractors.
  • Proven effectiveness in customer relations and change management.
  • Previous digital networking experience preferable, but not a requirement.
  • Previous budget and financial management would be beneficial.
  • Enthusiasm to participate, learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
