About the City Operations Team

Our team performs an essential role within the community. We provide maintenance services for green spaces such as coastal and inland reserves, walkways, sand dunes, playgrounds, and much more. In addition to that we maintain Tauranga City Council managed facilities and buildings. Our team is focused on providing an efficient and quality service, our purpose is to make Tauranga better.

 

Te Tūranga | About the role

We are currently on the lookout for two Revegetation Operators to join our team. The successful applicants will work as part of our Natural Environments Team bringing sites across Tauranga to a standard for all to enjoy and experience. The role requires knowledge and experience of revegetation tasks such as cut and paste, hand removal, dune care, pest plant vine control, agrichemical spraying of plant pests, removal of rubbish, line trimmer use and planting of trees/shrubs. Bonus if you possess extensive chainsaw, tree pruning and chipper experience.

These roles can be based out of our Tauriko or Owens Place depots.

 

These roles are very hands on and physically demanding, you will be working in the natural environment which means you’ll have to be comfortable working in all terrains and weather conditions.

  • Hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 3.30pm (40 hour per week)
  • Full uniform, PPE, wet weather gear, and work boots are provided
  • All tools and transport supplied

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed within the City Operations Team

  • Honesty and integrity (this is critical)
  • A track record of being reliable and a positive team player
  • Relevant qualifications such as First Aid, Traffic Management, Growsafe, LUV and Chainsaw are preferred
  • Strong pest plant and plant knowledge
  • Ability to use a mobile phone and learn our workflow app
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to listen and learn
  • The ability to deliver a high quality of work and take real pride in what you do
  • A full clean drivers licence
  • The ability to follow and implement Health and Safety guidelines
  • Be physically fit and able to work outdoors on your feet all day
  • Have great communication and customer service skills – you’ll need to be comfortable being an Ambassador for TCC and answering the communities enquires while out on the job
  • Must be able to pass a medical and drug and alcohol tests
