Te Tūranga | About the role
We’re looking for a practical, animal-focused person to join our Animal Services team as a permanent part-time Pound Management Officer, working 30 hours per week across 5days.
In this role, you’ll help provide a high standard of care for animals at the pound and support the day-to-day operation of a safe, clean and well-organised facility. You’ll work with animal owners, visitors, rehoming organisations, veterinary services and internal teams, making sure people have the information and support they need.
Your work will include caring for and managing impounded animals, maintaining accurate records, supporting ownership checks, administering medication when needed, managing impound information and payments, and helping keep the pound environment running smoothly.
To help you decide if this role is right for you, it’s important to be aware that some parts of the work can involve sensitive or confronting information. This may include matters relating to animal welfare, aggressive or dangerous dogs, rehoming decisions and euthanasia. You’ll need to be comfortable working with this information professionally, with care, confidentiality and sound judgement.
