Te Tūranga | About the role

Help shape Tauranga’s future by delivering essential water infrastructure projects that support a healthy and liveable city for generations to come.

Our City Waters team delivers a wide range of 3‑waters capital projects across Tauranga. As a Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of assigned projects and manage them end‑to‑end — from planning through to delivery — contributing to the successful delivery of the wider City Waters capital programme.

This role is well‑suited to someone who enjoys hands‑on delivery, working within established frameworks, and collaborating closely with delivery partners to achieve great outcomes for the community.

As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering assigned water infrastructure capital projects from initiation through to completion
  • Managing project scope, budget, programme, and quality within agreed parameters
  • Overseeing contracts and coordinating contractors and consultants
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders relevant to your projects
  • Contributing to a positive team culture and continuous improvement initiatives

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (engineering, project management, or similar)
  • Experience delivering infrastructure projects, ideally within the water or public sector
  • Sound financial, commercial, and risk management capability
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset and commitment to teamwork
