Te Tūranga | About the role
Technology plays a critical role in how Tauranga City Council delivers services to our community. As our Senior Application Support Specialist, you'll help ensure the business-critical applications our people rely on every day are stable, supported and continuously improving. You'll be the senior technical expert within the Applications Support team, helping resolve complex issues, providing specialist application knowledge and enabling great customer outcomes across the organisation.
This is an opportunity to take a lead role within a collaborative Digital Services environment. You'll provide senior-level support across Council's application landscape while acting as the lead specialist for SAP, supporting users, mentoring colleagues and helping shape application support practices and standards.
Working closely with technical teams, vendors and business stakeholders, you'll ensure critical applications remain reliable, resilient and aligned to organisational needs. You'll also play a key role in reducing technical risk, improving support processes and building capability across the team.
- Lead SAP support and provide expert guidance across Council's application
- Resolve complex technical challenges and improve critical business systems
- Mentor colleagues and help strengthen application support capability across Digital Services
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
You'll be an experienced applications specialist who enjoys solving problems, supporting customers and helping others succeed. You'll combine strong technical expertise with a collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- Proven experience supporting complex enterprise applications and business-critical systems
- Strong SAP support experience and knowledge of application integrations
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic capability across application environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills
- The ability to communicate technical issues clearly and effectively
- Experience mentoring and supporting team members to build capability and knowledge sharing
- Strong documentation and knowledge management practices
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and service excellence
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience will be valued, along with familiarity with ITIL service management practices.
