Te Tūranga | About the role
As our Senior Climate Resilience Advisor, you’ll help shape Tauranga’s long‑term resilience to a changing climate. You’ll provide expert guidance, lead climate risk and adaptation work, and turn strategy into action across our organisation and community.
This is a role where you’ll:
- Lead climate adaptation planning and strengthen resilience across the city.
- Provide trusted technical advice that informs Council decisions, policies, and investments.
- Build relationships with tangata whenua, partners, and teams to support evidence based, community centred climate action.
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- A degree‑level qualification in environmental science, climate change, planning, policy, or a related field.
- Significant experience in climate or natural hazards, including risk management, research, or policy.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to deliver complex, cross‑functional work.
- Experience facilitating workshops and engaging with communities and stakeholders.
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori concepts and experience engaging with hapū/iwi.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to influence, guide, and collaborate across teams.
Desired skills include postgraduate study, GIS capability, and experience implementing practical climate‑resilience solutions.
