Te Tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Development Engineer to join our team and help shape safe, practical, and sustainable development across Tauranga.

In this role, you’ll use your engineering expertise to help guide development across the city. You’ll provide advice on infrastructure, landform, and natural hazard matters across a range of resource management processes, helping ensure development is safe, practical, and fit for purpose.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working with a wide range of people, and contributing to Tauranga’s growth and future.

 

What you’ll be doing

You’ll provide specialist engineering input across a variety of work, including:

  • pre-application advice for proposed developments
  • engineering input into resource consent and building consent applications
  • reviewing section 223 and 224 applications
  • assessing infrastructure and landform issues, including natural hazards and risk
  • helping improve systems, standards, and processes related to development engineering
  • providing clear, practical advice to applicants, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • supporting and mentoring others in the team with your technical knowledge and experience

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

We’re keen to hear from people who:

  • hold a relevant engineering qualification such as BE, BEngTech, BSc, or similar
  • bring significant experience in landform and/or infrastructure development
  • demonstrate strong knowledge of development engineering, infrastructure, and natural hazard risk
  • make sound, well-reasoned decisions on complex issues
  • work confidently across a range of stakeholders and build strong relationships
  • communicate clearly and take a practical, customer-focused approach
