Te Tūranga | About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Drainage Operations Engineer to join our team. This is a key role in the operational strategy of managing the City's current and future stormwater and wastewater systems. It includes planning how we operate, taking care of our assets, and making sure our contractors maintain the network to required standards. You will be instrumental in incorporating new infrastructure from developers and third parties, ensuring upgrades and renewals to our network are future focused while also maintaining network efficiency. You will need to maintain relationships and interact with both internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Operational Strategy and Asset Management: Plan and manage how we operate our stormwater and wastewater systems, including overseeing maintenance work done by our contractor.
- Infrastructure Design Assessment and Future Planning: Check designs from developers to ensure they meet our standards and plan for future needs to keep our drainage systems working well.
- Stakeholder Management: Work with customers and stakeholders to manage new and existing network assets.
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Proven experience, knowledge, and skills in wastewater and stormwater reticulation network systems including good operational practise, and good engineering and maintenance practises
- Proven experience working in a contract management both new projects works and maintenance contracts
- At least 10 years experience of working in a drainage network system environment.
- Knowledge of Local Authority Engineering Standards
- Well developed written and oral communication skills
- Established relationship building and influencing skills including a proven ability to work with and influence a wide variety of stakeholders
- Sound PC skills with the ability to use Microsoft packages at intermediate level
