Are you a seasoned management accountant ready to make an impact in a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation? We’re looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract, supporting key financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions across Council.

 

Te Tūranga | About the role

This role is pivotal in supporting sound financial decision-making and robust corporate planning. You’ll work closely with activity managers, budget holders, and project leads to provide insightful financial advice, analysis, and reporting. You’ll also contribute to the development and enhancement of financial systems and processes, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver financial and business advice to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Conduct financial analysis of operating and capital expenditure to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support corporate planning processes including Annual Plan, Long-Term Plan, and Annual Report preparation.
  • Assist in the implementation and integration of financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Promote financial literacy and provide training across the organisation.

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • A degree in business, economics, finance, or accounting.
  • 5+ years’ experience in management accounting, preferably in government or large commercial environments.
  • Proven ability to improve business performance and implement new systems/processes.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred), corporate planning tools, and Excel (intermediate level or higher).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
