Summer Intern- Water Billing and Metering

Te Tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for an intern to join our Water Revenue team and learn how we manage water charges and support our customers. You’ll get to see how water meters are installed, how we handle customer queries, and how water services are funded. This is a great opportunity if you’re interested in community engagement, public services, or water infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

• Learn how water revenue is collected and used to fund city water services
• Support customer queries about water rates and meter readings
• Help process water rates remission applications
• Visit water treatment plants and learn about smart metering
• Understand how our team fits into the future of water service delivery

Who We’re Looking For

You might be studying business, environmental studies, public policy, or something similar. You’ll be someone who:

• Is confident working with numbers and spreadsheets
• Communicates well with people from all backgrounds
• Is interested in how councils engage with communities
• Wants to learn more about water systems and public services

What You’ll Get

You’ll work with a supportive team and gain hands-on experience in customer service, water infrastructure, and revenue systems. By the end of the internship, you’ll have a solid understanding of how water services are delivered and funded in Tauranga.
