We are looking for a new team leader to join our Animal Services team – this is a close knit, high performing team of nine, who strive to deliver better outcomes for our community through education and transparency.
Te Tūranga | About the role
As the Team Leader: Animal Services your role is to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the Animal Service Team, in accordance with the respective statutory provisions, Activity Plan, Council policies and direction.
Some of the key outcomes for this role are:

Professional relationships are developed, maintained, and leveraged to achieve business goals.

The Animal Services Team is held accountable for delivering outcomes that better the community.

The Animal Services Team has strong and effective leadership.

Effective asset management of all Animal Services programme
As part of this role the Team Leader will also oversee the following:

The annual dog registration process and continuous follow-up through the year;

Complaints made by the public and followed up by staff.
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

Qualifications relevant to the activity (eg: National Certificate in Compliance & Regulatory Control (Animal Services) Level 4 or equivalent level of learning through experience.

Proven experience in the regulatory and compliance environment.
-
Proven negotiation and problem resolution skills.
-
A strong resilience and perseverance with the ability to see things through to the end
-
Excellent written and oral communication with the need to deliver reports and present at hearings
-
Excellent leadership experience and people and relationship management skills
-
A compassion for the welfare of animals but at the same time responsibility for the euthanasia of dogs that are unsuitable to be released to the community.
This role is a busy day and night position, which is highly emotive and it will requre a strong character with a lot resilience.
