Entertainment venue technicians are the unsung rock stars of the Aotearoa live events industry. From behind the curtain, technicians dedicate themselves to amplifying the voices of our communities, shining the spotlight on our remarkable local, national and international performers, and utilise their skills and passion to bring creative visions to life.
Tauranga City Council has an exciting opportunity for a superhero entertainment venue technician to join the Baycourt Community & Arts Centre team as its full-time Technical Operations Coordinator. Reporting to the Technical and Operations Manager, responsibilities include:
- Delivering technical production services to a high standard that meets the event plan and client’s creative vision.
- Providing creative and specialist technical advice to clients to meet or exceed their expectations
- Timely maintenance and upkeep of all technical equipment
- Assisting with delivery of Baycourt’s Tauranga Teen Technician youth training initiative
- Support the training of casual Technical Assistants.
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
In addition to being competent to setup and operate theatrical technical equipment, we're also looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience in Audio / AV / Lighting / Theatrical Flying
- Proven ability and confidence to lead and develop technical staff / casuals or contractors
- Sound organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks and initiatives from conception to completion
- Ability to delegate tasks successfully
- Ability to work on own initiative and within a team structure
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Digitally savvy, with excellent knowledge of network systems and entertainment industry software systems
- Working at heights or electrical qualifications would be a bonus
Whilst not essential, someone who has an understanding of the theatre/creative arts is desirable.
