Te Tūranga | About the role

Join our Waste and Compliance Team and support the delivery of waste management services while minimising environmental impacts in this part-time role working 32 hours per week.

The focus of this role is to carry out field analysis, auditing and reporting on TCC waste operation sites, including closed landfills and transfer stations. Ensuring all waste operations meet resource consent requirements and that environmental and community impacts are effectively monitored and managed.  

This position plays a key role in supporting reactive waste services, managing environmental complaints (e.g., odour, discharge, or safety concerns), and assisting with remediation projects. A portion of this role involves field work to ensure assets are compliant, safe, and operating effectively. 

This role is based at our Tauranga CBD office. Some of our key assets include: Te Maunga and Maleme Street Transfer Stations and the Material Recovery Facility.

  • Resource Consent Compliance Monitoring 
  • Environmental Impact Monitoring 
  • Health & Safety Compliance and Auditing 
  • Project and Reactive Work Support 

 

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline. 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in resource consent compliance monitoring, environmental fieldwork, sampling, analysis and reporting. 
  • Current full, clean NZ Driver’s Licence. 
  • Proven communication skills – both verbal and written. 
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation including Resource Management Act, Waste Management Act 
  • Customer-focused, adaptable, and a collaborative team player.
