Te Tūranga | About the role

Are you highly organised, practical, and confident working with detailed information? We’re looking for someone with strong coordination skills, a technical mindset, and the ability to pick up processes quickly to join our Environmental Planning team as a Planning Technician.

In this varied role, you’ll help keep the resource consenting process running smoothly by supporting applications, information management, reporting, and financial administration. Planning Technician experience isn’t essential — what matters most is accuracy, clear communication, and confidence working in a busy team environment.

This could include:

  • receiving, checking, circulating, and coordinating documents and correspondence
  • supporting referrals, submissions, hearings, decisions, and administration
  • supporting invoices, purchase orders, reporting, and other financial administration
  • coordinating data and reporting requirements
  • liaising with internal and external customers to support timely processing
  • helping identify and support process improvements across resource consent processes

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

We’re looking for someone who can balance detail, deadlines, and customer service.

You’ll bring:

  • strong administration skills and excellent attention to detail
  • confidence working with systems, data, documents, and process-driven tasks
  • the ability to understand and work with technical information
  • clear written and verbal communication skills
  • confidence using Microsoft applications and the ability to learn new systems
  • an interest in planning, consenting, environmental processes, or local government

Experience with the Resource Management Act or resource consent processes would be helpful, but isn’t essential.
