Donna leads a team within Digital Services that looks after all of our information. In an organisation as big as TCC, there’s a lot of information to manage.
Donna is our go-to person for TCC’s responsibilities under the Public Records Act. If you want to know about data management, you call Donna – she’s a bit of a legend around this place. She champions correct use of our document management system and data classification. Some of the people in her team are responsible for creating new subdivision parcels and property numbers.
Donna joined our Records Information Team in a junior role over 20 years ago, fresh out of a business management qualification. Back then, a lot of the work was manual. Donna played an integral role in digitising all of TCC’s records – millions of pieces of paper.
Her job has changed several times during her time here, with each step providing a new challenge and professional development. She loves to help people on their learning journey and find new ways of working to do our work more efficiently – something council has always fully supported her to do. She’s even scooped up a few national information management awards.
Donna says if you’re considering a role in local government, and particularly TCC, just go for it. “The public sector is a great place for your career, there are so many parts of the business doing a huge variety of work for our community, so there are plenty of chances to develop your skills. If you are willing to learn and grow, then you have nothing to lose.
“I’ve always said that when I don’t like my job anymore or the people I work with…then I will leave. It’s been 20 years, and as you can see, I’m still here!”
