Te Tūranga | About the role
We’re seeking a Compliance Officer to join our team, replacing a valued staff member who is retiring after years of dedicated service. This is a unique opportunity to bring your building expertise into a role that directly supports safety and regulatory compliance.
In this role, you’ll carry out site visits and investigations related to building work and hazardous substances, as part of a well-established and highly supportive Compliance Team. You’ll make sure people are following the rules and help them understand what’s required. Your work will support safe practices and make it easier for the public to comply with regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit sites and carry out checks under building laws
- Processing of Certificates of Compliance and Discretionary Exemptions
- Give clear advice to help people meet their legal responsibilities
- Look into issues where rules may not be followed
- Keep good records and help improve our processes
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring;
- Strong experience in the building trade and know your way around the Building Code
- A step-by-step approach to solving problems
- Great communication skills and a focus on helping customers
- Ability to understand and apply laws and guidelines
- A strong sense of safety, fairness, and public service
- Excellent time management and a good “attention to detail” mindset
