Join Our Roadside Team – Two Roles Available
We’re looking for two Operators to join our Roadside Team. You’ll help keep our city looking great by maintaining roadside vegetation, rehabilitating berms, gardening streetscapes, and supporting traffic management. These roles are based from our Mount Maunganui depot. You’ll need to be a team player with a genuine health and safety mindset and positive attitude. It’s a physically demanding role so being fit and healthy will be key too.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating light and heavy machinery (1.5–5 tonne excavators, rollers, loaders, compactors, mowers)
- Carrying out pest and vegetation control using tools like spray knapsacks, pruning gear, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, weed whackers, and leaf blowers
- Working independently and as part of a team across different crews
- Supporting a range of maintenance activities across the city’s roadside network
- Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 6am–2.30pm, minimum 40 hours per week
- Some flexibility is needed as overtime will be a requirement on occasion

What we are looking for
- TMOP (Traffic Management Operative) qualification and STMS experience is advantageous.
- Full and Clean Class 1 NZ Drivers licence, although Class 2 is preferred.
- Wheels, tracks and rollers (WTR) endorsement is preferred.
- Experience operating heavy machinery eg. 1.5 – 5 tonne excavator, rollers, loaders, small/ large compactors, out-front/ reach/ tractor mowers).
