Te Tūranga | About the role

The City Operations Team plays a vital role in keeping our city well maintained and running smoothly. We’re on the lookout for a knowledgeable and motivated Supervisor - Revegetation Team.

In this role, you'll be more than just a supervisor—you'll be a motivator, subject matter expert, and hands-on leader of 25 direct reports! Don’t worry you’ll have support from Forepeople and your Team Leader. You're someone who thrives on building strong teams, who understands that our community comes first, and who knows how to get the best out of people while also rolling up your sleeves when needed.

This role reports to the Team Leader – Natural Environment and will be based between our Mount Maunganui and Tauriko depots. A vehicle does come with this role but is strictly not for private use.

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

• Significant experience in leading a large team of people to deliver outcomes to a high standard.
• Demonstrated confidence and skill in managing people issues, including the ability to resolve conflict constructively, inspire and engage others, and create an environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.
• A track record in implementing Health & Safety plans and procedures, always role modelling safe practices.
• Effective planning and organizational skills.
• Relevant qualifications ideally: Registered Chemical Applicator Certification, Diploma in understanding herbicides, Environmental Management qualification, Level 3-4 Horticulture certificate.
• Relevant technical experience (5 years plus ideally) in revegetation/ planting, dune care, pest control, chipper use, chainsaw use, spraying and revegetation restoration.
• Full clean NZ drivers licence Class 1 or ideally 2.
• Advanced computer skills.

Flexibility to work outside of normal hours of operation 7am to 3.30pm and go on call for escalation or civil defence emergencies.
